'Shallow depressions are centred off North Scotland, off West Ireland and over central Germany. A wide ridge of high pressure extends from North-east to South-west across the British Isles and the cold air current from the Continent is no longer reaching this country. There will be some further periods of snow in the South-east, and local snow, sleet or rain in North Scotland, and scattered snow or hail showers elsewhere. Bright periods will occur in most districts. Fog will occur in many places tonight and early tomorrow. It will continue cold;temperatures will rise a little above freezing point in the middle part of the day, but there will be severe frost at night in many districts'
At 0600 hours-High pressure centred over SW Scotland. SE England, W.Ireland and NW Scotland cloudy otherwise clearer skies. Temperatures below freezing in most mainland areas. Eskdalemuir the coldest on 8°F (-13.3°C) whilst Hatston (Orkney) and Cape Wrath are the warmest on 35°F (1.7°C). Snow cover widespread with the deepest being 16" at Cranfield.
Over the near continent at 0600- Low pressure over NW Germany.Snowing in many parts of north-western Germany and the Low Countries. Lowest temperature, 15°F (-9.4°C) at Skagen (Denmark).
Overnight-minimum temperatures at or below freezing everywhere on the mainland. Coldest was Eskdalemuir with 2°F (-16.7°C) and the warmest Scilly on 33°F (0.6°C). The wettest place was Leeming with 3mm of precipitation.
Previous day-Many stations in England and Wales remained at or below freezing. The lowest maximum was 28°F (-2.2°C) at Lympne, Boxted, Cranfield and Little Rissington. The highest maximum was 40°F (4.4°C) at Blacksod Point (Ireland). Most precipitation 8mm at Little Eissington.

Outlook-Mainly fair, less cold by day but severe frosts in many districts
